Pancake breakfast at the Columbia Aviation Association (CAA) begins at 8am.  The club is a large building flying flags, located just to the left of Aurora Aviation, a short walk.  Enter the clubhouse on the airport side.  Prices are $5 for adult and $3 for children.  Breakfast will run to 11am.

Take a look at the twenty classic cars parked nearby.  Then checkout the classic aircraft and warbirds.  Coffee and lattes will be available from 8am at Salt and Pepper catering, located on the lawn of the clubhouse.

At 10am, van shuttle service begins to downtown Aurora, located just a mile away.  Aurora is a National Historic District, filled with antique shops, restaurants and interesting things to see.  Take a walk around town, check out the park, city hall and the police station, take a look at the antique jail (from the outside)  Step back into the late 1800s Aurora architecture.  Then visit the Aurora Colony Museum.  It’s a treasure of artifacts and history from the commune community that lived in Aurora in the last part of the 19th century.  The van will be running all day, courtesy of the Clarion Airport Inn.

Check out the new airplanes at the airport.  Cessna will have new models on display, provided by Bill Hollenbeck of Hillsboro Aviation . New Piper Aircraft Company will be showing several new models.  Sit in the planes and feel the sky.

CW2 Douglas L. Jones of the 1042nd Oregon Army National Guard Medical Company Air Ambulance will be bringing a UH-60L Blackhawk helicopter and crew to Airport Days.

Watch retired United airline captain Sam Richardson fly his Reno-racing 375 MPH Yak-11, and view his beautifully restored Stearman WWII trainer.

The warbird area will feature a B-25, an FM-2 Wilcat and several other WWII aircraft organized by Jack Lenhardt, noted aircraft restorer.

AURORA AVIATION will provide airplane rides into the local sky. Cost is just $50 for a half hour scenic flight. Flight instructors will available to answer all of your questions about Aurora Aviation and its flight school.  If you've ever dreamed about learning to fly, this is your opportunity to begin following that dream.  Students, take your first introductory flight for only $35 for a 25 minute hop.  Try out the controls, fly like a bird!

See the latest aircraft radio and navigation equipment at Pacific Coast Avionics.

Check out the Columbia Helicopter booth to learn about how this 600 employee company serves from the world from its Aurora Airport location.

Stop by the AngelFlight booth and learn how this wonderful organization helps people in need of non-emergency medical transportation.  Maybe you know someone who needs their totally free volunteer services.  Or, maybe you are interested in working with AngelFlight as a mission pilot or ground support person.

Many of the new kitbuilt high-performance aircraft will be in attendance and Lancair may fly one of their Columbia 300 models in from Bend.

Check out the Aurora Fire Department display with all their equipment mustered for their annual outing.  They respond to fires in the area as well as provide emergency service to automobile accidents.  Better to meet them here than on Highway 5.

Lunch.  By 11:30 you may be hungry, so Salt and Pepper Catering on the clubhouse lawn will fire up the barbeque and serve sausages, hotdogs, hamburgers plus an array of beverages.  Prices are very affordable, with a typical food item priced in the $2.50 range.  They will also have a limited supply of their famous Rib dinners for those who get in line early.  Salt and Pepper Catering will have tables with umbrellas and chairs spread across the lawn, so select a scrumptious lunch, sit back and enjoy the view of the aircraft operations.

During the day, two Portland Air Force Reserve F-15 jets will do a low fly-by.  If you don’t see them, you’ll hear them!  This will be exciting.  Compare these to the classic B-25 bomber parked on the ramp.  Times have changed!  Look for this fly-by to take place around 10am.

About 12:30, the field will be closed for a performance by Renny Price in his Sukhoi SU-29 aerobatic aircraft.  This is an event will not want to miss.  All people must stay back beyond the line and traffic on the Wilsonville-Hubbard highway will be diverted.  The show will last 15 minutes and will be full of action, so pe prepared to drop what you’re doing and take a look at this wonderful performance in the sky.  Renny is an airline pilot and an active aerobatic performer based  at Aurora.  He is also the Airport Day 2000 Air Boss.

For arriving and departing pilots, the Aurora frequency of 122.7 will be used and you will be assigned a ground control frequency. Do not taxi in any public areas unless you have two wing-walkers to provide positive separation between you and spectators. Park your aircraft in front of the CAA club and to the north, up to the grass areas.

There will be officials in Aurora Airport Day 2000 yellow shirts that can help with any questions you may have.  Messages may be taken to the announcer both for lost and found, special notes, etc.

Public address and announcing is by Tim Brownhill, Double "B" Sound.  The announcer will provide information on all events and will keep you informed as to what attractions they are on the field.

Have a great time and enjoy the Aurora Airport and the town of Aurora.
