FAA Wings Pilot Proficiency Program  March 13 - 14, 1999

The Wings program sponsored by Columbia Aviation Association (CAA) and the Metro District of the Oregon Pilots Association was an outstanding success! The presentations were superb, the flying weather better than expected and the camaraderie excellent.   More than 160 pilots attended the Saturday session, packing the CAA Aurora Airport clubhouse to the walls.  The Sunday the turnout of 60 pilots was also excellent.

CAA served complementary coffee and rolls and provided an excellent lunch at a nominal fee. The acoustics, sound system and videos were first class.  Instructors were available free of charge to all pilots who wished to gain credit toward the FAA Wings program or a BFR.  Total flights with instructors totaled 43, averaging one hour in duration each.  Virtually everyone that wanted to fly was accommodated.  The FAA Wings program awards a certificate and a wing pin to pilots who attend a Wings program followed by 3 hours of instructor dual.

Thanks to the presenters:

Thanks to all the instructors, the FAA, CAA president Jim Matsies and the CAA members, Dennis Meyer OPA/CAA program coordinator and to all the pilots who attended to take advantage of this excellent program.

PAAM was represented to the group on Saturday by vice president Shirley Durham, and on Sunday by PAAM board member Ted Millar.  Each said a few words about our organization and passed out information on the website and membership.
